Cornelius Herstatt, professor with the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management at the Hamburg University of Technology

Cornelius Herstatt is Managing Director and full professor with the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). He is also a founding partner at the European Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (EITIM). Cornelius Herstatt studied Business Administration and holds a doctoral degree from the University of Zurich. He was research associate at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). He has long-time experience as a consultant in the area of technology and innovation management, strategy and organisation.

As a member of the management at Wärtsilä NSD Schweiz AG, Winterthur, Switzerland he was responsible for Business Development and Technology Licensing. Cornelius Herstatt has published various books and over 130 papers on innovation and technology management. His main research areas are: Font End of Innovation, Management of Innovation Projects, Lead User Management, Open Innovation and Innovation Off shoring.

He is involved in research projects in Japan, India and the USA besides his work in Germany. Cornelius Herstatt is member of the German Association of Professors for Business Administration and member of the Research Group of Research and Development Management at the Schmalenbachgesellschaft for Business Administration. He is member of various Editorial Boards and Area Manager of the International Journal for Innovation and Technology Management. He is further alumni/fellow of JSPS (Japanese Society for Promoting Science), East West Center (Washington/Honolulu) and Templeton College (Oxford/UK).
